This year has seen a revival of Contemporary Classic & Gypsy Jazz as music fans reach out looking for music that is Exciting!
Roman Street’s album ‘Bohemia’ is filled with sensational Contemporary Latin Styled Jazz, music that is passionate, vibrant and so sexy! Brothers Noah and Josh Thompson put their guitars together to form Roman Street. Since their college years, this brotherly jam session has developed into a Billboard charting band who many have dubbed 'the next generation' of Jazz Fusion.
Roman Street, named for an old roman street in the Alps, is an internationally trained instrumental band specializing in improvisational fusion of Classical, Gypsy and Contemporary Jazz, Latin, and Nuevo Flamenco.
A departure from the over-produced music that is out there today, they keep it simple — the beautifully organic sound of acoustic instruments played by talented people who love what they are doing. Whether performing as a guitar duo, or with a backing band, Roman Street astounds with music that appeals to fans of many genres.
We spoke with Roman Street about this sensational album… we asked them what was the inspirations for ‘Bohemia’… “We named the album ‘Bohemia’ because we felt that this album covered more ground musically and had more of a ‘world traveler’ feel than our previous ones. There are elements of Latin, Gypsy, Flamenco, Bossa Nova, and Smooth Jazz… it is very much a culmination of all the genres of music that we love so much.”
This album is filled with sensational tracks, music that has been written by the brothers… we asked who was the main music writer… “We both write the music, Usually one of us brings an idea to the other and then we work together to make it into a complete piece.” Much of Roman Street’s music has been inspired by their travels. From Switzerland to Santa Lucia to the US, each location helps craft the music for the next album.
One thing Roman Street love is performing live! With fans in every corner of the globe, several Billboard Top 25 songs, and 5 studio albums, Roman Street continues their quest to redefine contemporary jazz fusion.
And performing Live is something very special for the Brothers… We asked them what they really liked about performing live… “We love the spontaneity and energy of performing live.
Every show is different to us because we play each song differently every night, and we love seeing people getting lost in the music with us.”
Roman Street have opened concerts/festivals for international sensations George Benson, The Gipsy Kings, Ziggy Marley, Boney James, Dave Koz, The Rippingtons, Earl Klugh, Jesse Cook, Four Play, Maroon 5, Michael McDonald, Boney James, Bela Fleck and many more.
We also asked Roman Street…if they had any idols as they were perfecting their sensational music in the early years… “We were fortunate enough to meet two phenomenal guitarists from Switzerland back in 2000, a duo called Tonic Strings. We instantly fell in love with their brand of Latin and Gypsy music, and they began to mentor us on how to approach and play those styles of music. They are both monumental inspirations for us and I would definitely say they are two of our guitar idols.”
One for is for sure, Roman Street have a very special sound, their honest approach to music has seen them develop into one of the world’s leading world music duo’s and the latest Album ‘Bohemia’ will find them even more fans as their global quest continues, if there’s one band or concert that must be seen…it is without a doubt…Roman Street performing Live should be on every music lovers must see list!
