America’s Favorite Jazz-Rock Band Taking The World By Storm…
A New Album & First Ever European Summer Tour 2018!
Robert Miller and his Project Grand Slam ensemble have hit a new plateau with their sixth studio album, Trippin'. Eleven New tracks, 10 written by Miller marvelously show off the band’s prowess; including their now de rigueur cover of British-Classic Band ‘Who’ Track “I Can’t Explain”.
This New Album is without a doubt, Project Grand Slam’s Best Fuse Rock-Jazz Album to date. ‘Trippin'’ has really been years in the making, it showcases the band’s unique style and delivers a punchy rock flavor.
“I really do think that Trippin' is my best work to date,” Robert told us… Robert wanted to add more vocals to his repertoire and he wanted to produce an album that was more rock oriented. While he loves the great jazz fusion bands like Weather Report and Return To Forever, he also loves Rock-Jazz bands like Blood, Sweat & Tears, which blended great jazz into rock masterpieces.
So Trippin' reflects his rock roots more so than of his previous albums. And as someone who always admired the diversity of The Beatles on each of their albums – variety is the spice of life!
Trippin' songs include “1972” A nod to the Stevie Wonder type funky, synthesizer driven music of the ‘70s; “You Started Something”, “No No No” and “Everyone Swears”, new vocal tunes with a great beat and edgy lyrics; the title song – a smoking hot recorded-live-in-the-studio track; “Ride ‘em High”, pulsating and atmospheric; and “Lament”, a classic woman scorned song.
The album also demonstrates the band's diversity with songs like “Country Drive”, which may be the first country jazz song; “March Of The Diplomats”, a wordless vocal tune that was inspired by Astrud Gilberto of “The Girl From Ipanema” fame; and “Cousins”, the closing number on the album and a children’s song which Robert wrote for his two new grandchildren who were born recently within a week of each other. Each of these tracks continues to stretch the PGS idiom.
PGS are taking Jazz-Rock Fusion to a whole New Level!
