Michael McDonald Announces New Album ‘Wide Open’
A prominent part in the soundtrack to our times, Michael McDonald, as an artist and songwriter, has been awarded an impressive five GRAMMY® Awards. With his husky, soulful baritone, Michael McDonald became one of the most distinctive and popular vocalists to emerge from the laid-back California Pop/Rock scene of the late '70s. McDonald found the middle ground between blue-eyed soul and smooth, soft rock, a sound that made him a star.
Michael McDonald has announced his first album of original material in 17 years. Titled ‘Wide Open’, the forthcoming new album serves as McDonald’s first project of original work in 17 years following 2000’s ‘Blue Obsession’. The three albums that came after it — ‘Motown’, ‘Motown Two’, and ‘Soul Speak’ — were made up of covers.
Michael's new single ‘Find It In Your Heart’, from the forthcoming album ‘Wide Open’ (to be released September 15, 2017) calls up immediate memories of some of his much-beloved Doobie Brothers classics.
Within seconds of the opening ‘oohs’ and warm, groovy vibes of Michael's new song, your heart will be overjoyed. The opening notes call up immediate memories of some of his much-beloved Doobie Brothers classics, like ‘What A Fool Believes’ and ‘Takin' It To The Streets’, as well as some of his incredible harmony singing with Steely Dan on ‘Peg' and ‘Bad Sneakers’.
