Not since the New Age brilliance of Enya has there been an opportunity to reawaken the passion for this essence of sacred sound and now it has been discovered by audiences from around the world. In 2012, Sangeeta released her very first mantra album titled “Yoga is Love”. Later in 2016, she released her crossover mantra album titled “Niguma” which then became the score for the staged and choreographed production, Niguma, A Mantra Opera now known as Niguma: The Mantra Project. Her latest album ‘Ascension, Niguma Vol. 2’ is a collective of music written to include into the production for early 2018. Niguma: The Mantra Project in which Sangeeta wrote, produced and starred in premiered November of 2016 at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica, CA. The story was inspired by an 11th century yogini by the name of Lady Niguma. Sangeeta was first introduced to Lady Niguma’s story in 2009 by one of her Tibetan Buddhist teachers. For years, she envisioned this story to be put on the stage. Sangeeta felt compelled to unearth the ancient legend of the Tibetan goddess NIGUMA and through her truly innate love of sacred mantra and modern opera, she focused to alchemize a sound that inspires the heart and mind of the listener, while further demonstrating the true power and necessity of the goddess energy in modern times. This was a pivotal moment as this was the first ever written “Mantra Opera”. Seeing the outcome and hearing the positive feedback from the audience and also the performers, she understood that something magical was happening and that she had to continue this work. Sangeeta has begun her journey with her new company, Empower With Art Productions with the intention to bring timeless ancient teachings, magical and mystical stories onto the stage combined with the Fine Arts such as: Modern Dance, Ballet, Musical Theater, cutting edge visuals and music performed by world class artists. It is important to her that art is a tool for transformation and awakening and that artists who hold the same values, have a platform to express themselves fully in this way. By producing productions like Niguma: The Mantra Project, Sangeeta feels it is the greatest way for her to be of service. She travels internationally and has performed throughout Europe, Asia, the US and Australia. Sangeeta just completed a Sell-Out Tour in Sydney and Melbourne. She has performed in venues such as Segerstrom Center for the Arts, MUSCO Performing Arts Center, The Broad Stage, Sydney Opera House and many others. In the years of studying and performing, she also devoted her life to her spiritual practices. Her studies in ancient wisdom began when she met her spiritual teachers in New York who guided her toward the practice and studies of Tibetan Buddhism, Kundalini Yoga, Yoga of Lady Niguma and the Yoga of Sound and Mantra. It was during that time that she truly began to understand her calling. Her calling is to bring her gifts and training as a singer and producer and merge it with powerful and meaningful messages that may benefit the world in positive and uplifting ways. Sangeeta’s New Album Ascension, Niguma Vol.2: The Mantra Project features renown Producer/Composer Nicholas Neidhardt, the Hungarian Studio Orchestra of Budapest, the Sufi mystical ecstatic chant known as Qawwali, plus the world music wellsprings of West Africa and Armenia.
